The advocacy technical meeting that the Population and Development Strategies Programme organized in November 2005 constituted a first step in the process of developing a framework for an advocacy strategy on population issues. The meeting's recommendations emphasized the importance of unifying the concepts concerning the advocacy strategy and the mechanism that should be followed to put this strategy into action. To follow-up on these recommendations, the PDS convened a Consensus Building Workshop on April 3 and 4, 2006 in Holiday Inn Hotel Dunes, Verdun- Beirut that aimed at building a consensus on the need to develop an advocacy strategy that targets decision makers in Lebanon; it aimed as well at defining the steps of the framework development process and getting all partners to agree on them. Participants to the meeting included parliamentarians, representatives of Ministries, National Commissions, UN programmes, NGOs, and the Media attended the workshop.
